The MSc in Data Analytics (part-time) is a 2-year, online programme, designed to deliver the core skills and knowledge needed to work as a data practitioner, in addition to providing the flexibility to fit around a student’s busy lifestyle. The programme incorporates three key pillars of data analytics: Data, Tools & Techniques and Analysis. Each pillar overlaps with the other to provide a coherent and unified set of core skills in data analytics. The research project will consist of an industry-focussed project, which students can undertake within their own employer, or in conjunction with AIT industry partners.


Aim of Programme

The programme aim is to equip graduates with the ability to work with large volumes of data, irrespective of where this data originates, to derive meaning and insights. Graduates will be equipped with the skills to manipulate this data and present such insights by utilising range of analytical skills and analysis techniques. The programme will incorporate mathematical and numerical analysis, by utilising a range of software tools including databases, analytical software and visualisation software.

Induction for the 2021/2022 academic year takes place (online via Zoom) on Saturday 8th January from 930am to 1pm. In advance, you will be required to review Pre Induction reading material, available to you on www.aitflexiblelearning.ie.

During Induction, you will be given the opportunity to:

  • Meet your programme lecturers, programme co-ordinator and students
  • Overview of the programme handbook, programme’s modules, assessments and delivery timetable
  • Introduction to Athlone IT’s operating systems including MS Office, Zoom, Moodle etc
  • Outline of the learning supports available to you during the programme
