Aim of Programme

The terms Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and more recently Alternate Reality (within the research fields), can be represented within the umbrella terms of Immersive Experiences and reflect the degree of digital content presented to the users as they move from the real to virtual world experience.  These technologies are changing how we interact and consume content.

Traditionally applications of such technologies lay within entertainment and gaming domains. However, research and industry are now deploying these disruptive technologies within telecommunications, advertising, real-estate, health, education, human-machine interaction, manufacturing, robotics, tourism among many others.

This Postgraduate Diploma in Augmented and Virtual Reality targets learner expertise and skills development within this rapidly emerging and developing area. It offers a challenging and multidisciplinary course that develops the skill set to blend key technical, creative and user experience expertise. This programme places unique emphasis on design and experience evaluation of Virtual and Augmented Reality applications. It is targeted at graduates who already have a L8 ICT related qualification to up-skill them in a very focused manner.
