Aim of Programme

[tab_content]

AIT have two postgraduate programmes on offer in Cloud Native Computing.  The entry requirements are the same for all three.  However the breadth of knowledge to be acquired and relative time commitment required from students is significantly different.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Cloud Native Computing is a broad software design programme with 60 ECTS. It includes all content in the Postgraduate Certificate, but builds on the skills and knowledge gained further with focussed emphasis on Object Oriented Design.  This programme has 12 contact hours per week and at least 12 hours of self-directed learning are necessary per week.

Click the links below for details of the other two postgraduate programmes:

Postgraduate Certificate in Cloud Native Computing

It is necessary that you contact the Programme Coordinator to discuss which programme is most suited to your needs before you make an application.  Please do not apply for more than one programme within this suite of programmes.

Aim of Programme

The aim of these programmes is to provide students with the following:

  • An understanding and ability to use Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) in order to run applications on servers that can be flexibly provisioned on demand.
  • The ability to design systems using, or evolve them towards, a microservices architecture.
  • The skills and ability to automate software build, test and deployment using continuous integration.
  • The skills and ability to containerize: package processes with their dependencies making them easy to test, move and deploy.
  • The skills and ability to orchestrate: abstract away individual servers in production using off-the-shelf management and orchestration tools.
