Springboard+ / ICT Skills provides free higher education courses for people who are unemployed. You can also apply for a Springboard+/ICT Skills programme if you are working, but you must pay a 10% contribution towards the course fee.
There is a range of part-time (online and blended) programmes from certificate to master’s degree levels – levels 6 to 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). Current available programmes at AIT are part-time and last for one year or less.
These programmes are free and part-funded higher education places allocated within the Government Jobs Stimulus Package to help get people back to work, upskill workers and build economic confidence while continuing to manage the impact of COVID-19.
Postgraduate Programmesare offered as conversion programmes, which enable graduates to acquire a qualification in a different discipline. AIT has both part-time and full time programmes available. These are free for Returners/Homemakers and the unemployed. Those in employment and recent graduates must pay 10%.
Modular Skills Programmes are part-time, short and focused and are being offered in a flexible manner, allowing participants to gain important skills without taking a considerable period away from the labour market.
Each module/programme is stand-alone so that participants can gain skills and put them into practice immediately in the workplace, but modules are also accredited in such a way as to provide building blocks to a full qualification should the student so wish. These are free for all at Level 6, free at all levels for Returners and the unemployed, but the employed must pay 10% for Levels 7, 8 and 9.
